What is shared resale?

Shared resale lets you sell your ticket above the original price up to the max, while sharing part of the extra earnings with the event organiser.

Some event organisers choose to enable shared resale for their event. If it’s active, part of what you earn above the original ticket price is shared with them. Check all the details here.

How does shared resale work?

When shared resale is active, the amount you earn above the original ticket price is split between you and the organiser.

There are two possible split types that organisers can opt for based on what’s best for their event:

  • 50/50 split – you keep 50% of the extra amount, and the organiser gets 50%

  • 80/20 split – you keep 20% of the extra amount, and the organiser gets 80%

Where can I see the split and how is it calculated?

You’ll always see shared resale in your Price breakdown when setting your selling price.

Any TicketSwap service and transaction fees are also shown within this Price breakdown. You can always see these amounts per ticket:

  • What the buyer pays

  • What you’ll get

  • Your shared resale earnings on top of the original price

That way, you know what to expect before you list your ticket. Learn more about how to sell your ticket on TicketSwap.

Does shared resale apply to every event?

No. Event organisers decide whether to activate shared resale for their event.

If it’s active, we’ll show it clearly when you list your ticket.

Can I still earn back what I paid?

Yes. Shared resale only applies when you sell your ticket for more than the original price. If you sell your ticket:

  • At the original price – nothing is shared

  • Below the original price – nothing is shared

  • Above the original price – you’ll share what you make on top of the original

Does shared resale change TicketSwap’s pricing rules?

No. Our pricing rules stay the same. You can still only list tickets within the allowed price range. Shared resale only affects how the extra amount is divided.

To learn more, see our Pricing article to understand how max price rules work.

Does shared resale apply if I resell a TicketSwap ticket?

No. If you bought your ticket on TicketSwap and sell it again, shared resale does not apply. This is because the ticket is already part of the resale flow.

You’ll still see a full Price breakdown before listing, so you know exactly what you’ll receive.

Why do you offer shared resale?

We want to support a healthy event ecosystem. By sharing part of the extra earnings with organisers, shared resale helps support the people behind the events you love – so they can keep creating events you love.

If you’re unsure whether shared resale applies to your ticket, check your Price breakdown when listing a ticket for sale. It always shows exactly what applies to your sale.
